Our first "Off Road" trip in 'Phoebe' to Dawesville

Last Saturday, we decided to take the new Jallop out for a bit of a test run...
... about 40clicks south of Mandurah, to a place we saw on the map called 'Dawesville' - Just to see what it was like for you, Lor!
We threw the fridge in the back of 'Phoebe' the Prado - (called the 'Pepperado' by our friends, Linda and Murray!) and took the obligatory Burgers, Chook strips, sauce and 'sauce'!!! and then headed off south for half an hour or so to reach 'Tim's Thickett Road', which took us over some soft dunes to the beach. This is a pic of us waiting to get on the dune road as there was a large group of 'fourbys' letting their tyres down before they went on the beach. It was a school trip of all things!

We took a little walk up and over the first dune to see what was there. I found two gorgeous beach babes!
They even showed me which way the sea was!!!

PP took a look for herself, but could "see no ships"

Just this awfull scenery everywhere - SOMEONE'S gotta do it!
Even views like this!

We eventually reached the beach and had no probs at all switching from 2 to 4WD as Phoebs is bit more sophisticated than Old Jen Jen was!
We passed several others stuck in the soft sand, but Phoebs just made it look easy!

We stopped here for a spot of lunch

Had to fight off the madding crouds!

And had a burger or two.

PP even had a go on the beach. Like she thinks she's gonna get Phoebe when she passes her test!?!?!?

The fun never stopped all day - even on the way home, we had to endure views like this...
Which leads to Millionaire row!

We stopped at Mandurah on the way back, just for a drink or two and were amazed at the size of this Pelican???
He was more than 3 feet tall!

Just lovely in Mandurah! It's on the list to take you there!

Nice, red Commodore, or "Commodo" as was on the back!
The new Prado - named "Phoebe" made light work of it all - gunna take her off road soon, so I'll let you know how it all goes.
And...
...Be careful Tom!

New house THREE

Hi again,
builders have been a bit slack this week...
...Nothing much happened on Monday, the girlies are here on the 'slab'...
...we were quite excited Tuesday, to see the bricks arrive...

Cait wanted to see how clean the windows are...

...Then the mortar sand arrived, along with a galvanised shed (for them, not me!) and the door frames...
...but not much else happened then, so we'll keep you posted...

Slab 2!

12/03/09 Just a quick update, to say our Soakwells are now in, so just waiting for the brickies now! Jcp

I said I'd show you some photos of our slab...

...exciting isn't it?

(OK, well, it IS for US!)

This was the day they dug the footings, i.e NO slab!

The next day, they laid the reinforcing mesh...Then they poured the concrete and 'voila!' a slab is born!!!

We even have our first bathroom - well, a port-a-loo anyway!!! lol

Nuttly's Birthday

A year (to the day) that we moved INTO the last house at Gundaring and it's Nuttly's b'day again.
She had a much better day this year as we had a party at Nicky P's - The best craft and scrap booking shop in WA. Nicky and Heiki have seen a lot of us since they opened just before Xmas 08, as they run classes on crafting as well as sell every conceivable little accessory you can think of as well as some you can't!

7 girls had fun making paper craft bags (like miniature handbags) and then had cake and biscuits.
Yum!

Slab is down!

Last week, we were delighted to see our concrete floor poured at the new house. They dug footings, laid all the reinforcing mesh, plumbed in drainage etc and poured our 'slab', which is what we call the floor here!
So we're up and running with our own house. More outside drainage and bricks next. I took photos on my phone, which I can upload from work, so will show you more on this post as it progresses. I have to wait till tomorrow(Monday) to get my upload from work...

...Watch this space!
Jcp

This is what we're building, btw, for those of you who haven't been following our blog for long!

Wedge and Cervantes TWO

I has such a good time last time I went to Wedge, that we decided to go again, but all of us this time!
John & Annette had to show us the way, so it was a pleasure to spend a couple of days with them!
It was a good job they came, as the signs weren't that good?

See how 'Wedge' gets it's name?
Roos are there tooWELL worth the drive!
And FUN too!

The new tent was such a breeze to put up and a lot bigger than the last one.
Gorgeous - the sunset, not John!!!

Next day, went to Cervantes, but detoured to 'Thirsty Point' and the Aptly named, Hangover Bay???
Then we went onto the Pinnacles, which are formed by erosion. There are more than 40 acres of these things, in the middle of complete bush landJohn and Annette - Very Good friends
Us!
Only is Oz, would you see a sign like this? and the backdrop was pretty good too?
See ya next time, J,P,E n C xxxx
