Winter seems to be over???

We had that bad weather last week, but that seems to be about it...

...so far.

Last week a clear blue skies, 21,22 or 23 degrees C and went on all week.

We had a bit of rain yesterday (Sunday) and a few showers today, but the rest of the week is set to be clear and blue again.

SO, I've been working in short sleeves etc, whilst my Aussie colleagues are wrapped up in shirts, jumpers, jackets and coats etc!!! Moaning that it's "SO COLD!!!"

And they call ME the whinging Pom! The wusses. lol

Looking forward to a swim later!

We've had some pretty good sunsets too?

HOORAY! Furniture

At last! Our long awaited furniture has arrived!!!

After a 'short' EIGHTEEN weeks waiting we took delivery of our beloved 'stuff'

The thing we missed the most???

Our COFFEE machine!

The girls wanted THEIR stuff too, of course!

We had a battle with the moving company this end as they had NO IDEA of customer service as I had to call them a dozen times to: -

Find out if the ship had arrived,

Find out when it was booked to go through customs,

Find out if it had gone through customs,

Find out when it was booked for quarantine,

Find out if it had gone through quarantine,

Find out what was needed to clear qaurantine,

Call to pay for delivery

Book delivery

Call to find out why they were late

Call again to find out why they STILL hadn't arrived
Call AGAIN to find out why they STILL hadn't arrived

Call to say they HAD arrived!

I think that's 12?

Not once, did they think of calling me and their excuse for being late???

The truck had broken down!!!

When the guys arrived, I asked what the trouble had been with their truck...

... They came clean and said there was no truck trouble, but they HAD been double booked, as they had a new computer system!!!!!

Typical - The computer must have said NO????

But all is well that ends well!

We have our stuff and are all unpacked, so we can finally sit on comfy chairs and sleep in beds instead of matresses.

BLISS!

living next door to... ... not Alice, but A STAR!!!

Hey - It's Tuesday 3rd June 08 and it's our Anniversary!!! (19 years today!) Hooray!

We're a bit better off too, as after my last post, I WAS paid and have now caught up with pay as far as converting from casual to contract goes, so feeling better today!

We've been listening to Mix FM, every morning on the radio and have been laughing a lot at the travel guy's (Captain Paul) jokes, that he reads out after every travel bulletin. The show is called 'The Bunch' and consists of three presenters, called 'Clairsey, Mat and Shane' or so I thought!
It's actually Clairsy, NAT and Shane! I thought that Clarsy was the woman and it was MAT, not NAT and they've been SO funny and good to listen to that I thought I'd check out their bit of the Mix 94.5 website... ...as you do!
I opened their page and started to realise that I'd mixed up the names and then started to watch a video - link here: - http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid1258426344/bclid1285256027/bctid1487538309

and realised that the NAT was OUR NEIGHBOUR!!!!!!!!!

We'd been listening to them all this time and didn't realise we were listening to our neighbour, so wait till I see her next time!! It must be the Pom in her that preventer her bragging about being such a star!!!

I'll let you know what she says...

Winter!

Well, its been a while since I posted last - Anzac Day I think? So I thought I'd pop another one up?

Today is 31st May and its well and truely WINTER here!

Its thundering overhead and they've issued a severe weather warning for Bunbury and Mandurah (about 100Kms south) as they expect high seas and high winds etc. It reminds me of the weather we had around Torbay before we left - They closed the sea front road for days in Torquay!!!

So, as its going to piddle down, we're going to watch DVDs, make cakes and stuff - Oh, we'll probably pop to Ikea - Yes, Ikea, as PP needs an airer to dry the washing and the girls like playing with the stuff there. They also do rather nice meat balls!

We also pushed the movers on when we're gonna get our piggin' furniture and the good news is that they can deliver next Weds!!! YIPPEE!

We're more than a little fed up with sitting on garden furniture now - It's been seventeen weeks!!!

Tomorrow is my birthday and its the big one too, but as work have decided not to pay me this week - LONG storey, but a mix up with submission timing by my boss, we'll be celebrating my day by doing...

...nothing!

Just wait till next week, when they DO pay me after all!!!

The thunder is still banging away, but its not raining yet and the sun has just popped out too (Weired weather at the moment) and we're gooing to collect Caity from her sleep over she had at Suzzie's b'day party last night, so better go before it pours.

See you all soon,

Anzac day

Anzac or (Australia New Zealand Army Corps) day is just like rememberance sunday in UK, except EVERYONE gets the day off and HEAPS of Aussies go to Kings Park at DAWN to remember those lost in the War (In France!)

We didn't go at dawn, but went later in the day, as it was a goodun! The views across the city are spectacleear!!! so thought you'd like to see a couple of shots we took WHILST DRIVING too!

(PP took the photos, I was driving!! lol)

Scitech

Sci tech is a science museum / exhibition in Perth and we went there last week to give the girls something to do (I didn't want to go of course, but I'll do anything for a peaceful life!!!) Yeah, right!

It was FAB!!!

HEAPS of things to play with and shows called Flour, Fuel and Farts and another one called No Batteries required and we went into their Planetarium, where we were given the low down on the Southern Hemisphere's Nighttime display. We even saw the milky way!!! Brill!

We had a go on all sorts of experiments and games and things, but didn't take the piggin camera inside, so all you guys get to see is the OUTSIDE! You'll have to come and visit us, so we can take you inside!!!?!!!

True sunsets and BBQs

We went to Freo South Beach the other day and managed to catch the sunset I was on about in previous posts. It was about 6.15pm and as we sat on the beach, drinking Iced tea - Yes - Iced TEA!!! the sun set and seemed to sink into the Indian Ocean.

It inpsired us so much, we had to go do the real Aussie thing...

...and buy a Barbie - Not the plastic doll either!

Cheers!

Childrens Festival in Samson

We were looking through the 'West' (West Australian Paper) last Saturday to see what was on over the weekend and noticed that there was a Children's Festival just off South Street in Samson Reserve, so we thought we'd give it a go...

... and glad we did.

There were Aboriginal performers, Stalls, Tea, Cakes, Games and challenges. Just like the rock-climbing that the girls fancied a go at - Noonie made it slightly higher than Nutty, but both had a real good go at it. Well done!!!

Kings Park too!

Another chance to use the BBQs at KP, so we had to go...

...It's one of our favourite places as every time you go there, you see something different.

We had a walk around the Federation Tree top walk and then the Banksia garden - Wonderful!!!

We'll take you there when you come to see us.

New chairs/Swings

Went to our favourite shop over the weekend - Makro and saw these chairs for the girls (and US) so had to buy them, just for lazin' about!!! Loverly!

Incredabubble skys?

WA is known for it's wonderful sunsets, but normally at the beach!

We had this spectacleear one the other day from HOME (about 30Kms from the beach) so I HAD to take a photo, so you can enjoy it too?

A spot of trouble with the 'LAW' !!!

Well - I've been driving here for two months now and have seen some 'interesting' avoidance techniques as well as some cool manouvers that I didn't know a car could do!!! and in all that time, (I'm not blowing my own trumpet here) I have not had the pleasure of a one to one discussion with an officer of the Leeau (That just for those of you that have seen the Pink Panther Series!?!)

PP, on the other hand, HAS!!!

She was doing her bit for the enviro' the other day and rode her bike to the local shopping mall. No drama there...

... on her return, she became a little disoriented (as she had ridden TO the shops from SCHOOL and was now attempting to RETURN to the HOUSE) and as she was trying to find her bearings, she found herself being pulled over by a man in blue!

He asked her what the wonderful ornament was for that was hanging from her handlebars (helmet) and explained that she would be fined $50.00 for not wearing it! $50.00 !!!!!!!!!

A quick thought later, PP fluttered those eye lashes and in a strong Pommy accent, excalimed that she didn't know she had to wear her helmet on the pavement, she thought it was just for the road!! (Good thinking Batman!)

The Orificer then noticed the Pom voice and let her off with a warning - Whew!

I showed all the sympathy I could of course! and I'm STILL laughing!

Good on yer!

King's Park trip

Went to King's Park the other day - Had a BBQ on the public ones - getting brave aren't we?

Just B E A U tiful there!

Definitely going back - maybe later today?

A bit of RAIN!!!

Well - If we were missing the weather in good ol' Blighty, yesterday reminded us of how it used to be...

Perth had April's average ENITIRELY between 7.00am and 2.00pm.

The news showed people pumping out buildings and shoring up with sandbags etc.

The kids were out playing in the rain as they don't see it often.

It was funny to see ducks swimming across the park - there was NO LAKE, just rain water!!!

By 2.00, though, 'Pheobe' came out to play again and you'd never believe it was in the same day!

Pics here of Cait jumping in the pool in the rain as it was THAT cold!!! and then the three of us doing the same within two hours of Cait doing it in the rain.
